How laser removal Works
Targeting Melanin: The laser emits a light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair. This light energy is converted to heat, which damages the hair follicles that produce hairs. This damage inhibits or delays future hair growth.
Treatment Phases: Hair grows in different phases: anagen (growth), catagen (transitional), and telogen (resting). Laser hair removal is most effective on the anagen phase, so multiple sessions are needed to catch as many hairs in the growth phase as possible.

Preparation: You’ll be advised to avoid plucking, waxing, and electrolysis for six weeks before treatment because the laser targets the hairs’ roots, which are temporarily removed by waxing or plucking.
During the Procedure: The procedure can be relatively quick, ranging from a few minutes to an hour, depending on the size of the area being treated. You’ll wear eye protection, and a cooling device or gel might be used to protect your skin.
Post-Treatment: Redness and swelling for the first few hours post-treatment are normal. Sun exposure should be avoided before and after treatment to improve the effectiveness and reduce the risk of complications.
Effectiveness and Considerations
Sessions Required: Generally, 6 to 8 treatments are spread over several months. The number of sessions can vary depending on your hair color, hair type, treatment plan, and the area being treated.
Long-Term Results: Many experience long-lasting hair reduction but periodic maintenance might be needed.
Safety and Side Effects: Usually safe when performed by a qualified professional. Possible side effects include skin irritation, pigment changes, especially with improper laser selection or settings.
