Face Improvement

Acne Scars

Acne scars such as (ice-pick, boxcar and rolling scars) are the most common type of problematic scars.

Most patients receive Frax Laser Treatment to successfully treat acne scars present on the surface area of the skin surrounding the affected area at the face.

What is Frax Laser treatment?

Frax laser treatment is a non-invasive and non-surgical aesthetic procedure that utilises a device to emit a non-ablative 1550-nm wavelength of light. It helps a wide variety of skincare conditions such as acne, hyperpigmentation, and the visible signs of aging.

The procedure works by utilising patented fractional laser technology that targets the microscopic areas of the skin. It emits the laser beams precisely, which penetrates both the dermis and epidermis of the skin. In turn, collagen stimulation and production would occur improving the skin’s physical appearance.

The Procedure

Understanding The Treatment

Dr Fin or our clinic staff will apply a thin layer of numbing cream to the skin before the procedure to lessen the discomfort. Undergoing Frax laser treatment can be described as an enhanced sensation of heat felt in the skin. There may also be feelings of pins and needles pricking the skin, which may feel a little uncomfortable but bearable. Cold air will then be used to cool down the heat-exposed areas.

The whole procedure typically takes about 10 to 15 minutes and the preparation time is usually less than an hour.

Recovery & Care

Side Effects and Downtime

After undergoing Frax laser treatment, expect some downtime for a few days.

On the first two days, the skin may feel similar to sunburn. Erythema and swelling are two common side effects but it is known to gradually improve. Itching may also be apparent during this time. Gentle cleansing is highly recommended for at this point.

On the third to the fifth post-treatment day, the itching will improve. However, the skin may feel a little rough and flaky. This can vary based on how intense your session was.

On the following days, patients who underwent Fraxel laser treatment may continue their regular skincare routine. They should lessen their sun exposure for approximately four weeks to avoid any untoward effects on the treated area.
