What are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are minimally-invasive procedures that add volume to your face. They can plump up your lips, soften your facial lines, eliminate wrinkles and enhance shallow contours.
Dermal fillers are made up of several chemicals, some naturally-occurring and others manufactured. Hyaluronic acid is one of the most commonly-used dermal fillers (HA) ingredients.
HA is a naturally occurring component in our skin that aids in the hydration and volumisation of our skin. On average, HA fillers typically last between 6 to 18 months before being gradually eliminated by the body, depending on their chemical makeup.
Treatment Applications
The most common regions where dermal fillers are used are:
- Lips
- Nasolabial folds
- Cheeks
- Oral commissures
- Marionette lines
To plump up these wrinkles and creases, dermal fillers are softly injected through an extraoral injection immediately under them.
Please note that these are the same places you do a routine injection. The only distinction is that you usually inject these sites intraorally when you administer a local anesthetic.
Types of Dermal Fillers
Juvederm Facial Filler
Juvederm is a material that is naturally occurring in the skin, and it helps with volume and moisture. It is made of hyaluronic acid gel and often used to treat moderate to serious wrinkles on the face.
Fillmed Facial filler
Fillmed is a hyaluronic acid facial filler that one can undergo to repair nasolabial folds and other moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles.
Restylane Facial Filler
Restylane is a soft tissue wrinkle filler made of non-animal, biodegradable hyaluronic acid that adds volume to the skin by microscopic injections, smoothing face folds and wrinkles around the lips and eyes.
